Introduction to DiskFaktory

Please read this entire page before beginning. Thank you.

You will need to use the duplication services of DiskFaktory if you are submitting any video work samples. United States Artists conducted a search for a high-quality duplication services organization and chose DiskFaktory for its reputation, physical proximity, and reasonable prices. Our experience working with them was excellent.

We require all video work samples to go to DiskFaktory for the following reasons:

  • To ensure discs are properly formatted for consistent operation.
  • To ensure discs are properly and consistently labeled.
  • To create the 10 copies needed by United States Artists (all copies are included in the cost).

You will not be uploading your actual video samples here. They must be sent to DiskFaktory by a carrier that provides delivery confirmation like UPS, DHL, FedEx, or United States Postal Service with delivery confirmation. Once DiskFaktory has received your submission, you will receive an automatic confirmation email. Additionally, please keep your own delivery confirmation receipt from the mail carrier that you use.

The deadline for the application and work samples is April 16, 2009 (5:00 pm PT). All video work samples must be postmarked by this date. To help defray costs incurred during the application process and to encourage early applications, we offer the following for completed applications:

  • $100 if submitted by April 2, 2009
  • $25 if submitted by April 16, 2009

Duplication Cost

  • United States Artists will pay DiskFaktory directly for the duplication of your one (1) disc. There is no cost to you if you submit all of your work samples on one (1) standard authored DVD disc playable in a set top DVD player.
  • If you are not able to submit your work samples in this format, there will be additional fees charged by DiskFaktory; these costs will not be paid or reimbursed by United States Artists. Please continue to the next page for more information.

Accepted Video Formats

  • We enthusiastically accept one standard authored DVD disc playable in a set top DVD player (only single layer DVD-R media with 4.7 GB or single layer DVD-5 replicated discs without CSS encryption or regional coding).
  • We reluctantly accept a non-playable DVD in .MOV or .MPEG2 format or multiple DVD's but additional processing fees will be charged by DiskFaktory. Please continue to the next page for more information.
  • We do not accept dual layer, DVD-9 or higher, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, Blu-Ray, and HD-DVD disc masters.

Key Points to Consider

  • Only your video work samples should be sent to DiskFaktory. Your images, identification of work form, resumes, etc., need to be submitted through the online application. In other words, all .jpg, .pdf, and .doc files should be submitted online.
  • Please give yourself plenty of time to use DiskFaktory's services. We are here to help you, but cannot accommodate last-minute requests.
